GRAPHIC DESIGN - CORPORATE IDENTITY - PRINT MEDIA

If you plan on your business growing,

then you must market under the assumption

that it will, in fact, grow.

One of the biggest mistakes

small business owners make is underestimating the value of effective marketing from conception.

When you establish an identity at the start of your business and develop your marketing around that identity, you are likely to be much more successful at a much faster rate than if you merely pass out, for example, flyers.

Don't make the mistake of saying "I'll cross that bridge when I get to it." When it comes to marketing, be smart:  do it right, right from the start.

FAQ

Answers to your most common questions.

What's with the name?

"Paragon" means excellent and the moon is an ancient symbol that represents creativity. Hence, the name Paragon MoonTM essentially means "excellent creation."

Why the sports theme?

Success in sports and business ownership have a lot in common. There are challenges and obstacles to overcome and competition to contend with. Absolute passion and determination is required in both, if you are certain to succeed. Not to mention, support and encouragement from family and friends goes a long way -  whether you're attempting to ski a Double Black Diamond, or start a new business.

What is Graphic Design?

Graphic Design is the applied art of delivering a message utilizing images and/or text. Everything needs graphic design: Business cards, candy wrappers, posters, CD covers...the list is endless. A good Graphic Designer is not only artistically creative, but also has a strong understanding of marketing and can predict what will draw attention and create memorability.

What's the difference between a Web Designer and a Graphic Designer?

Anyone that designs graphics for print or web is considered a Graphic Designer. However, not all Graphic Designers design web sites. In a nutshell, Web Designers ARE graphic designers, but not all Graphic Designers are web designers.

What is a Corporate Identity and why is it important?

A Corporate Identity can  most commonly be defined as the "look and feel" by which your company is recognized in the marketplace. It usually involves a trademark symbol (logo), but in fact encompasses much more. The identity of a business is the primary visual projector that every successful business relies on to be recognized and remembered. It lends your business credibility and triggers memorability in the general market. The most effective branding is done at the start of a new business venture, when colors and symbols are carefully selected to represent the company. Branding is what differentiates you from your competitor, just like the methods by which you conduct business - everything from your response time to providing clean restrooms for your visitors. Do not underestimate the value of a professionally designed corporate identity! It can make the  difference between a business jump starting and failing within the first few years.

What are collaterals?

Collaterals are your primary business print materials, such as business cards, letterhead and envelopes.

How are collaterals different from marketing materials?

Marketing materials are used to educate and compel your clients about you and your business. They typically consist of post cards, flyers, brochures, announcements, rack cards, etc. Think of marketing materials as your "sales force" in print - for those times when you can not be in front of your customer yourself.

Why can't you just grab the images off the net for my flyers or brochures?

For one thing, images on the net are someone else's work and copyrighted. But on a technical note, images created for the web are saved at low resolution. Images used for print are saved at a high resolution. If you use low-resolution images for a printed piece, you will find your images either much too small, or - if stretched large - extremely distorted. You can see an example of what happens when you use a low-resolution image for print here. If you want professional marketing materials, start with professional photography (stock photography is usually acceptable if purchased in high resolution format).
